Techniques: Both employ slow, deep strokes and sustained pressure, potentially using hands, forearms, or elbows. Deep tissue massage tends to be performed on the whole body. Sports massage, on the other hand, is more targeted, focusing on specific areas of pain or injury.
Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is beneficial for chronic aches and pains, muscle stiffness, and injuries. The technique involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to release tension and break up adhesions and scar tissue. While it can be more intense than other types of massage, it should never be forceful.

A sports massage therapy consultation includes the above but is a more comprehensive assessment of your current condition, including a verbal, visual, and physical evaluation of any injuries or areas of concern. This can include postural analysis, range of movement and functional testing. The consultation also involves gathering information about your medical history, exercise routine, and any relevant health issues or allergies. This information helps tailor a treatment plan and determine if sports massage is appropriate for your needs.
